Just whilst going through my bank statements, I have noticed that I have been charged twice when I went to fill up with petrol at the service station. The two amounts are different and I cannot remember which was the one I actually typed my pin to authorise. I certainly only typed my pin in once so how did the other transaction go through?

Do I contact the bank or the service station to take things further?

Thanks in advance for any help.

not two different days, were they? The service station may have delayed presenting one bill to the bank
I'd start by contacting your bank. Happened to me a few years ago and turned out the bank knew there was a problem with a certain petrol station - they were running a scam and the police were building up a file to prosecute (the petrol station guys were running mobile phone top up cards through with every transaction and pocketing the proceeds). The bank immediately gave me a refund... and three guys at the petrol station went to jail. Whatever happens, the bank are best placed to advise you on what steps you need to take.

Thank you all for your speedy advice. I shall get onto the bank straight away as I know I have only visited the service the once.

Thanks again.
