More challenging than last week's puzzle by the looks of it.

Have fun!

Thanks for the link greyfox.

Let's hope you are right and it is tougher than last week.
Yes, thanks for the link greyfox; I couldn't get at it when I went onto the Spectator site earlier this morning.
thanks for the link

i had a feeling this might have more intensity this week, but when everything fitted into place, i have somewhat of an affection for it
Thanks for that. I have started to look forward to these more than other xwords.
This one is certainly a little more challenging that those for the past few weeks.

And it's all the better for that.

I just widh the "Index" in the ODQ was more thorough. You look under the obvious word and don't find the relevant quotation listed.
I 'googled' to confirm the quotation I had from the letters and found it in a couple of minutes so the ODQ is not actually required.

Much more enjoyable than last week.

Agree with that kayakamina. Much more of a challenge and all the more enjoyable for that. However, I do think it's helpful to have a reasonable mix of 'easier' and 'harder' puzzles(though one man's meat etc..) as the former can encourage less experienced solvers to persist in the arcane art.
Is it that challenging? I didn't find it too difficult, and it's possible to solve it without taking the trouble to work out or reference the quotation (though I did, just to be sure).
