Dynamite invented by Alfred Nobel
I am not sure Nobel hated dynamite. It made handling these explosvies in mining much safer than it was before.

What he hated was using dynamite to kill people.

In fact when his brother died one paper printed Alfred Nobel's obituary rather than his brothers by mistake. In it they said he would be remembered for inventing dynamite that killed so many people.

So determined was he to change that perception that when he died he put all his money in a trust fund to pay for the various Nobel prizes we have today.

It could be Oppenheimer and the Atom bomb. While he did not do it on his own, he was in charge of the project.

After they dropped the first bomb he said

"I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds"
Alfred Nobel didn't just invent dynamite although that's what he was best known for, he also invented gelignite and a whole lot of other explosives.

Alfred's brother Emil was actually killed in 1864 whereas the infamous incorrect obituary actually appeared 24 years later.

"The merchant of death is dead" it said!

One last amusing point is that there is an urban myth that there is no Nobel prize for Maths because his wife was having an affair with a mathematician.

However he never married - Good story though

Kalashnikov is also reported as saying that he hated his invention of the rifle that bears his name.
