The subject of 'nationalised grief' has been debated at some length on the Site. I appreciate the inconsistency of the grief over the Soham tragedy, as against other similarly shocking events, The World Trade Centre was an event of such monumental catastrophe that it did affect the world as a whole - hence the memorials and Silence today, which as you will know, a large number of companies and individuals did not observe anyway. Maybe the 'national grief' phenomenon will pass - let's hope so, it is not healthy for anyone.
