Does your radio support MP3's?
As Myriad2112 implies, not all CD players (particularly older ones) can play mp3s
I find CD-RWs (rewriteable) will not work in a vehicle CD player, but CD-Rs (one time recordable) will.

I'm sure this is not true for all machines, but might help you.
As already mentioned, try using a CD-R instead of a CD-RW.If it still does not work, this could mean that your hi fi does not play mp3's. You should be able to get round this by burning the disc as an audio disc instead of an mp3 disc. You will only get about an albums worth of songs per disc this way, but it should work. This is what I have to do to play discs in my car dc player.

Many thanks for your replies, I'll try again.

Cheers for the assist.
I think it's something called "WAP audio" you may need to try, but not too sure on this.
