I know this probably won't help but why don't you put a huge blob of jam in the middle of the floor then they will all head towards it meaning you can kill them all in one fell swoop, maybe with a blow torch.
In my head that is dead logical and practical, in reality I fear it may be useless :(

Hi weeal sweetie :-) xxxxx
Hi everyone. We had loads of ants last year, and as fast as you got rid of some, more came. I put some pieces of wood down, with blobs of Nippon on them, and after a week - no more ants, because they carry the poison back to the nest and kill the queen by feeding it to her. It's a bit nasty in a way, because ants seem very intelligent and organised insects, but we ended up with them everywhere. Just be careful where you put this stuff down though, as pets can be nosey!

Bypass your Housing Officer and call the Department of Environmental Health.
They will come out and spray as many times as it takes, until you are rid of them.
Have to laugh at some of the stuff on here. Nippon is ok and does get taken back to the nest. But I found that a lacquer type spray was the best. I used something called Dethlac but there are similar ones available. Spray indoors along where the ants run. It is safe to use on skirtings, floors etc. and is invisible which is a bonus. Bigmamma keep kids away tho and the odour is strong so use in a well ventilated area till it's dry.

It is a sign spring is around the corner if ants have started to appear.
