Well the definition of a racist is someone who believes a fact about a race of people PURELY based on their race.

So a racist statement is, for example, all people from Vietnam smell.

Based on the above statement I DONT believe that we are a nation of RACISTS.

I am sure we all see examples on a day to day basis of different races (and religions) working together, talking together, eating together, going out with each other and so on.

We are a VERY tolerant nation.

BUT I think we are a nation who are getting scared of what is happening to our country because of the influx of many different races (and religions).

It is not their RACE as such, it is their NUMBER.

We have always had immigration, SOME immigration is no bad thing, but the last 15 years or so has seen a steady stream of unmanaged, uncontrolled immigrartion that cannot be good for the country in the long term.

THAT is what people are worried about, and that is NOT being racist.
good answer.. look I really dont think it is a racist thing but this is a small island and we really only have room and enough funds for so many..there must be a limit and i THINK WE HAVE REACHED IT !!!!

vhg that is EXACTLY what is happening........what a brilliant reply to my question..
I don't think Britons are racist. However, many of the c00ns and pak15 are decidedly racist and seem to get away with it.
words fail me. your all idiots.
Mamjet Why are all the people who replied to this question idiots?
As a nation, Britain is becoming less racist I think.

But it's obviously still pretty damn racist.

vhg's reply is very nicely put, but of course it's still utter bullsh1t. For decades and decades, the small-minded people in Britain have groped and spluttered for excuses as to why their not being racist towards blacks/pakistanis/Irish immigrants.

And each time, it comes down to a simple gut reaction rather than concern for the fabric of society - distaste. We don't like people who are different because we have to work harder to truly understand them.

vhg is quite wrong to say that a racism needs to be purely based on race. Although it gives him a handy get out clause. 90% of the reason why someone might hate black people is because they've developed an attitude towards that race. 10% might be down to some other social factor. So they hide behind that 10% to spout their prejudices.

It's mealy-mouthed. But then, people often don't even know they're doing it.
When the indigenous population is outnumbered by the immigrant arrivals your question does not apply. Impossible, you say, it will take centuries. But no this situation already exists in Leicester.
I see arranged marriages as racist.
I shall repeat an answer once said on here that is probably the best reply I have ever seen.

I believe blacks, whites, mixed race, Africans, Chinese, Orientals, Russians, Eastern Europeans, Gay, straight, bisexual, disabled, abled, blind, deaf, dumb, tall, short, fat, this, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, gypsy, rappers, rockers, casuals, surfers, goths, emos, men, women, children, Jewish, Hindus, Buddhists, Shintos, Catholics, Protestants, Quakers, teachers, Doctors, road sweepers, police officers, nurses, salesmen

etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

Should join together and fight the muslims.

No NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!! simple
I dont think we are all becoming racist, just fed up with the amount of immigrants coming here.It seems that white british people are becoming the minority in their own country.I suppose immigrant are now seen as a threat. This country has become multi culteral and has allowed things to happen here that certainly wouldnt be allowed to happen in others.
mamjet people having their own opinions are not idiots.
If it is racist to be concerned about muslim extremism and the levels of immigration into this country, then I and most of the people I know are racist. Surely some sort of control on the numbers of people coming into this small country of ours will have to be applied sooner or later?

steve,

tought the truth in schools?

not any more apparently
Everyone on earth is racist in some way or other, this is a fact. But I would not call it racist, I would call it being territorial.

This is not just a thing that is only common to humans. It is a natual instinct that exists in all living forms, from the birds in the sky to the creatures of the deep.

Was the native American racist because they wanted to run the white man off their lands?

Were the peoples of India racist because they wanted the British out of their country?

The word racist has become a word, to somehow shock and frighten the indigenous peoples into accepting mass immigration into their country, of peoples who bring with them their own cultures, religions and ways of life that are in some ways alien to our culture. Not to mention the fact that the people who have over centuries fought for and paid the price for all the benefits we now enjoy. But now find that we have to share these benefits with peoples that have never contributed into the system, at a huge cost to us.

Regarding the Germans, or the French, It seems perfectly acceptable to criticise, call, make jokes about and use disparaging terms to discribe them such as Krouts, or Froggies. But it is strictly taboo to do similar if one has a skin colour other than white. So one has to ask is racism just a matter of showing prejudice of skin colour and not just for being of a different race?
I think that I may be a racist, I don't like black people, not because they are black, but because when four or more get together, they start singing bl**dy hymns.
christina81,

mamjet thinks we are all idiots, maybe it's because he doesn't like the true opinions of others?

Here Here Vehelpfulguy!!! We are only trying to protect our Island!

Irovert I LOVE black gospel, I used to work with South African nurses and when we went out they would gather together and sing gospel, it was just lovely and i miss it!!!
I agree with Christina81. We are a tolerant society, but more and more people are becoming little tired of immigrants and people who come here and live off the state, live in their own communities not contributing to society, then seem to have more rights than the indiginous population.
