hi my cistern fills continuously thru the day and wont stop even after flushing , it is a 2 button flush system , i have taken lid off but cant see any obvious prob , tho the syphon part on the left , if turned slightly does stop the filling but only till the next flush , the whole system looks extremely flimsy , is this a common prob that can be fixed or has a new system to be bought , and are they difficult to fit .... for a novice...!! thanks

The problem is probably caused by a strip of plastic underneath the push button being slightly too long, they are usually designed to be trimmed down in length and are marked with notches for this reason, What I usually do is trim of one bit at a time, each time replacing the button and trying it. trim more off until the water no longer runs.
i had the same problem.
took it apart, put it back several times, no joy.
what i have found now, a simple cure.
the water will stop if you can get the silver button in the top of the cistern to pop back up. answer.....tap the button with your finger....it comes up. not a lot of pressure needed, about the same as, you would use when typing.
something to keep in my also is, if you have a combi-boiler while water is running elsewhere ie a tap or your toilet, your heating will go off. good luck.
