Either can be affectionate if handled frequently from an early age. I prefer guinea pigs as they are very gentle, docile creatures but they "chat" to you which is quite endearing. They do not smell as long as they are kept clean and dry. I have found them the easiest of pets.
You need to bear in mind that whichever you choose they like company so will need attention and there is the likelihood with either that you will need to consult a vet at some point so be prepared for some expense. That said I haven't had to see a vet about my guinea pig in the 3 years I have had him.
definately piggies are best. I have four and a rabbit. The rabbits quite aggressive, does not like being held, kicks and bites. Pigs like the other lady said are great, real characters, sqeek at ya, jump about . VOTE PIGGY !! LOL
I would go for a Guinea pig because they don't smell and they make super pets.

I have one and he lives indoors and he is called Pig, he lives in a cage in the winter indoors and in the summer when it is warmer he lives outside in his hutch.

Guinea pigs are very talkative and they love it when you russell a pollybag.

Rabbits smell and they can sometimes make bad pets as females tend to bite if they do not have a male around.

Thank you.
