itd make it easier if you did, but women do become pregnant when then drink and smoke. It can lower your fertility so the choice is yours.

Perhaps itd make it easier if you were quitting smoking for a goal. the alcohol, unless youre drinking way over guidelines and addicted doesnt cause as much of an issue until you are pregnant.

thanks, red, im not addicted to either of them, only smok 1 or 2 when im drinking, but i guess the best way is just stop smoking.
if thats all you smoke then you will find it easy.

Good luck
It'd just be a wise thing to do mirela, since both alcohol and the toxins from cigarettes not only go into your own bloodstream, but that of the baby as well. It probably won't make any difference to you in small doses, but could cause complications if you over did it. Good luck - x

thanks ice, in this case, does my boyfriend need cut off drinking and smoking as well?
BTW, i just took smear test and waiting for result, anything other test need to take before thinking to get pregnant? cheers
You should start taking floic acid if yu are thinking of trying for a baby soon.

It's probably best to make an appt with your GP who will be able to give you advice. Obviously it's best if you and your partner stop drinking and smoking altogether, but it's down to the individual. I quit smoking as soon as I found out I was pregnant and haven't looked back since, and wonder why I didn't do it sooner. I have a small glass of wine now and then, but not often and always with / after a meal.

My husband still smokes and drinks as much as he did, and although I would of course like it if he cut down or quit, it is his choice and I won't pressure him into doing so (secretly I have a wistful drem that he will clap eyes on his son / daughter for the first time and declare that he will ne'er drink nor smoke ever again! I doubt very much that this will happen but a girl can dream. The best I can do for the moment is to ask him not to smoke around me or the baby).

hi nat, how old the baby is now then? how do you feel being a mum?
yeah, i feel a bit hopefuless to ask my bf quit them either, but he did promise if i got pregnant, then he will try to cut off tho.
got phone call from gp this morning, one test result came out, said i got little infection, only need 5 days antibiotics, no need worry, still waiting for the smear test result. where can i get the floic acid ? ask gp or just go to pharmarcy?
Baby not born yet mirela, I am 34weeks - it's due in April.

You can pick folic acid up from the chemists, but I think if you are entitled to benefits then you can get it on presrciption. It's pretty cheap though and you only have to take up until week 12 of pregnancy.
Hello girls. Can I just say, natalie - that I think you're referring to follic acid. I'm not trying to pull you up about any spelling or misinterpretation of the word, but if mirela looks for the wrong thing, she's probably not going to find it, that's all. You're right though - it's helpful - but if you eat lots of leafy green vegetables anyway, you should be getting enough follic acid without going to the expense of buying any. As for other things to do in preparation for getting pregnant - try to keep as stress-free as poss - and once that little infection's cleared up, you should be fine. Make sure it's nothinbg that your bf could pass back to you again though. Things like thrush can be passed backwards & forwards, so it's best if he's checked as well - x

thank, ice, i forgot the name of the infection, but the doctor said it is very common, most of women could get it and not from sex. my bf reckoned me to ask full body check, like blood check etc, is that necessory? he said just incase any disease been carried from old relationships...
also you mentioned about stress, that is another thing im worrying. I am very sensitive person and quite easily to get depressed, and dont have family and friends around either. even i made up mind to have a baby, there always little worries if i can cope with it or not...
Drinking is ok but in moderation. A glass or two of mackesons stout will do wonders for your iron levels in your blood. Lay off the fags. Smoking during pregnancy will give you a stupid kid. Thick as two planks.
