Is it true that guys will see you as "just a friend" or "one of the guys" if you share an interest considered masculine i.e. chronic football (soccer) obsession? PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!

It is not true.  Why should those interests just be masculine?  I have dated lots of girls who are into football or rugby.  Admittedly their interest was mainly in the hunky men who played those sports but it was an interest nevertheless.  Does it really matter is you are a friend - or are you worried that your interest may put off a potential suitor?

The latter, Octavius. Besides, with players like Wayne Rooney around at the moment I can safely say that my interest is in the game, not the players!
someone had to carry on the proud tradition of peter beardsley
Hardly ever, i have loads of female friends (who i hope arent on here) and i can honestly say i have thought about 99% of them becoming more than friends.
No single, heterosexual male wants to be just a friend. Ever!

I don't think liking football is considered only masculine any more.  Having masculine interests does not lead to only being thought of as one of the boys, and it can help a relationship a lot if things that take up time regularly (eg watching sport) can be shared.

If everything a women did could be considered  stereotyped 'masculine'  eg drinking pints, swearing, breaking wind, talking nonsense, behaving like an prat etc etc then eyebrows may be raised and potential suitors could well be put off

No it's not true. My housemate (female) and I are the biggest football fans going, and we've never had any trouble with men thinking we're 'butch'. It's fun seeing their faces in pubs when we talk tactics...they're gobsmacked!
I agree with back2tigga and ezapf. If a boy and a girl are good friends, deep down one of them will want to sleep with the other one. But in answer to your question weaza, no, we wont. Besides, talking about football is a good ice-breaker
What team do you support georgit?
No, i don't think it's true at all. If they find you attractive they'll want to be more than friends with you no matter what you're into. And they'll be chuffed that you won't moan when they want to go off to matches or watch them on tv/in the pub!
Man Utd and proud. I've supported them since I was old enough to understand the offside rule (about 6 years old), but have also held a place in my heart for Oldham Athletic since the age of 16 when my mum remarried a Latics fan. Oldham have the best mascot in the world!
Man Utd eh? Well, despite logic, tactics, players and form suggesting otherwise, I reckon you'll get a good thumping on Sunday. Provided our donkey manager stops wasting Bellamy on the wing anyway

I like soccer, rugby and Formula 1 and my men friends don't think I am odd. In fact it makes it easier for them as they don't feel I am being left out when watching said sports.

Also like georgit79 I am a Man.Utd. fan having been born within 2 miles of Old Trafford, but have a soft spot foe Wigan Athletic.

blokes opinion...

i would think u are a great girl to share mens interests instead of nag us about them and would consider u to be a good mate and one of the lads, but it wouldnt stop me wanting to get in ur undies either

THANK GOD! Thanks everyone, its just a particularly annoying friend said that my infatuation with Chelsea FC would get in the way of a guy fancying me. Glad to see that she is probably wrong!
