It's a type of Asian fish similar to trout. Spinnining plates in a circus was a big thing here years ago but obviously a lot got broken. In Thailand, they use the poi. It's a lot more difficult but when they fall off the thin poles, they don't break.

OK corby, have I got this right, they spin fish on a pole.

I need to get out more.
Don't worry, they use dead ones. It's not as if they mis-treat live ones or anything. There is a school of thought that using frozen ones is cheating because they're more rigid and easier to spin than when defrosted.
