O -I so know I am going to be castigated for this and its not meant in a mean spirit BUT I can understand if she was merely campaigning for tighter controls.

What I dont understand is why her grief and loss is more profound than others who have lost loved ones in similar circumstances.

I feel another 'Stephen Lawrence' moment coming on.

Anyone else feel this way?

Yeah, don't worry yer pretty little head about it.
Dris, this is what you said.
''What I dont understand is why her grief and loss is more profound than others who have lost loved ones in similar circumstances. ''
And that's what I answered --Jeez,some people !!!
Thank you Brionon but I do remember what I said at 12.18 to Drisgirl.

ooo-brionan -what I meant by that was- what made her story stand out from the rest who have lost loved ones in a similar manner.

What I perhaps with the benefit of hindsight should have said was 'What I dont understand is why her grief and loss is being percieved by the media as being more profound than others who have lost loved ones in similar circumstances'

Hence the reasons I mentioned Stephen Lawrence and Sarah Payne as examples of how those seperate and different heinous murders were ear marked for public attention when similar crimes had been committed before.

I really do hope I have clarified this -boy I feel like I have been a on a rollercoaster -accused of all sorts -quite hurtful and spiteful as well when all I thought I was doing was opening up a discussion.

Have a good party dris - catch you later on maybe x

O thanks Icey -just away up to her house to raid it up and get flowers and a cake and things so she gets a surprise when she comes home xx
Lovely! Hope you're not whacked after all that lot!! x
I'm sorry drisgirl but I disagree with you on one very important point.
If my son had kicked a man to death for no other reason than p1ssed pleasure, I as a parent would hold myself very accountable. I would blame myself for not instilling any values, decency, morality or anything good into his being. I would blame myself absolutely.
However, I know that my son will not ever, never in a million years do anything like this as he has been brought up to be a good and decent person - and that is a consequence of being my son.
I dont think that Mrs Newloves grief is any worse than anyone else who has suffered a loss in this way. Nor I dare say does she. This poor woman and her daughters do not know which way to turn, and want some sort of justice for what has happened. They will never get over it , but will learn to live with it. it is not surprising that they feel very bitter about what has happened. They do not know why people, even kids who behave in this way are tolerated in society, and who can blame them. Why are we so soft on these anti-social often violent kids? They may be kids but they are a menace and a danger to the public. Something needs to be done and fast. The media will keep referring every similar incident back to Gary Newlove because that it what they always do. But it will happen again to someone else and that incident will then dominate for a while. It is just the way the media works. I do not really understand the point of your thread. Give the woman a break, and thank God you are not in her shoes.
It was and still is similar to the criticism the McCanns get. Some people are resentful of the media focusing on just Madeleines disappearance when every day children all over the world disappear as well. But the McCanns success in keeping Madeleines face and plight in the news
has to be applauded. You cannot expect them to be concerned right now with anyone else, They are focused on finding Madeleine, and that is understandable. They do not deserve all the criticism levelled against them, nor does Mrs Newlove.
Nobody on this thread has criticised Mrs Newlove persianlady. What has been criticised is the way she has been treated by the press to whip up frenzy. If people read Drisgirl's words properly you will see this is true.

As for the McCanns, they can hardly can be compared to Mrs Newlove who finds herself in a terrible situation which she could have done nothing about. People were against them because they left their vulnerable children, so they were obviously going to get criticism.

Lottie -you are the voice of reason on this thread -you have read my posts and digested them unlike the others who have skimmed over themThank you for that -you have restored my faith in human nature. Some people are just so vile and vitriolc you are a gem.

I have to say that neither sandy or Lucy have came back on after reading my link.Wonder why?

See the problem is sandy -supposing you didnt know my recent past -you should NEVER have jumped to the assumptions you made and the downright spiteful insults aimed at me.I,however am the bigger person as I didnt use my ongoing nightmare as an example-I simply posted a thread with the knowledge of what that lady was going through-and I wont divulge details -but I can assure you they were quite horrific -but its not a competition -I just felt for her in her vulverable state- not knowing she was being manipulated -and still do.
