thanks loads grass
Britannica gives pranayama so it could be the shortened form prana. The meaning of that, however, seems to be slightly different.

I know thats what i have been struggling with ???
I found this on a website
The Meaning of Pranayama actually means a "pause in the movement of breath". In Sanskrit, Prana means breath and Ayama means exercise.
As it says Prana means breath and is derived from sanskrit I suggested it as the answer.
It is also applied to the technique of breath control, and I found a whole website showing the "Prama" techiques.
