heard this on the radio, but didn't hear the answer

3 men book a night in a hotel , it's 30, they pay 10 each. The manager then discovers it is 25 instead, so he sends the porter up with 5 to give them back, he can't decide how to split it, so he keeps 2 and gives them 1 each. So each man paid 9, 3 times 9 is 27, the porter kept 2, which makes 29 so where is the remaining 1?

Any ideas? We've no clue what so ever.

This is an old one .The pay 30 thats 10 each .The cost is 25 so in actual fact they only pay 8..33.3333 p each The 5 pound must then be split three ways aprox 1 .66.666 .which when aded up comes to near as be damned 30 ..How that .....
There is no missing 1.

The bill is 25 plus the 2 kept by the porter = 27.

(27+3 returned=30)

(27 - 2 NOT 27 + 2)

I hope this makes sense.
