myself and my friend (both 19) are heading off in the middle of january to either barcelona or milan.

But we cannot decide which we should pick.  We both enjoy going out at night clubbing or just to bars but also in the daytime we want to have plenty of things to go and see at the moment i think milan has the slight edge due to it being relatively close to Venice.

i would appreciate the opinions of anyone of similar age who has been to either or both of these places

Thanks xx

Hi.  I am 22 and I went to visit Barcelona for a day when I was in spain on hols earlier this year.  Barcelona is absolutely beautiful with lots of things to see and do if your into culture and the like, you will never not find something to do.  There is a massive cable car which you can get on to get to different parts instead of walking and the views are fab (and it's cheap)  We also went to go and see the olympic stadium which was cool ( I would definitely get the cable car for this otherwise miles to walk!).

As Barcelona is a massive city, just like if you went to London, you pay more for things such as eating and drinking.  There are lots of trendy bars to go to and I think you would have a great time.  I have never been to Milan so can not comment on that (if you go, let me know what it is like).

Barcelona is a great city for drinking, eating and culture, as is Milan, but remember that Milan and Venice are about 180 miles apart.

Yeah thanks for your replies. i realise they are 180 miles apart but trust me wher ei live i have to travel that far just to get to my nearest top shop or any other major shop you might want to visit so I'm prepared to travel a little bit

I would say Barcelona for partying, fun, drinking and a spot of sighseeing. Milan is definately for shopping and sighseeing. Venice is 3 hours away by train. Also bear in mind that Milan and Venice will be much colder then Barcelona. Have fun wherever you go.
