ray, just wanted to ask how how your first day at school, whoops, sorry, college was?

Did you manage to get your name sewn into your pullover in time and did your plimpsolls fit you ok?

I hope you remembered to put your hand up when you needed a wee wee and most importantly of all, did you remember to use the 3 golden rules? never run in school, always do as you are told first time, and lastly, always be kind and polite? I do hope so ray cause we don't want you letting us down and becoming the class clown!

I hope you learnt lots and bought all your exercise books home to cover with old wallpaper!!! :-)

Any first day at school/college memories abers?? good or not so good.

Did you also remember an apple for the teacher??!!! Lol.

I hated school and unfortunately did not go to college.
I wish I had the chances that my sons have had today, going to uni etc.
I reckon I would have excelled.
LOL, you nast horrible women, you were supposed to keep it quiet. I had to sit at the back of the class with my balaclava on backwards, my sleeves are covered in snot, and some nasty boy took my twix bar and gave me a chinese burn, I kept my mittens though cos june had sewn them onto bits of elastic that went through my cardy sleeves.

I loved school, the only bit I didn't like was the lessons, so I used to bunk off all the time, No wonder they politely asked me to leave when I was 15, but why? I never caused any problems I was never there.

Does anybody remember cod liver oil capsules and a spoonful of malt every morning? the daft thing is they used the same spoon for every kid in the school, and nobody died, did they, also nitty nora flea explorer, and in the winter the little bottles of milk froze and the milk came out of the top of the bottle with the lid on it, we thought that was so funny, cos the milk had a stiffy, lol

lol sorry ray, couldn't resist!!!! :-) im not really horrid and nasty!

i remember the little bottles of milk having either an A or a B on the top! It was a mad rush to get an A bottle cause B's were rubbish and meant you werent ace like you were if you got the A!!!
Ray whatever you do, don't sit beside Martin Keenan (yes you Martin Keenan if you are an ABer!!!) I sat beside him on my first day and he wet himself, mucky pup.

I remember the forzen milk too, yuck, but then again in the summer it was warm, equally yuck.

Does anyone recall getting that flouride (sp) stuff to drink every week? Imagine if there was something in it that made us all go bonkers in later life, actually maybe that is exactly what happened.
It's a bit parky for shorts - hope you had your long 'big boy' trousers on!
Well if we're going to go back to our childhood school days, someones got to mention them.......... school dinners!

I personally loved school dinners but didnt like being made to eat right handed when I naturally eat left handed! I loved the little individual puddings....... mmmmmmm ......rice pudding with chocolate shavings on top!

As for my first day, I cant really remember it well so it cant have been too bad. After a good think that may change though.
Oh , that Cod liver oil and malt , it used to be in a brown jar and I used to get a dessert spoon full every day in the winter. Can I admit to actually liking it though !
Morning Jules + Ray

I fell asleep playing with those Russian dolls where they all fit inside each other until you get to the smallest one on my 1st day at skool

good morning all,

at my primary school we had an outdoor swimming pool! The water was freezing cold and we used to have to get changed into out cozzies in the classroom and then walk from there across the playground to the pool, always bloody freezing cold weather, it was never ever sunny when we had swimming!
Frozen milk, I'd forgotton about the A's and B's Jules, we had wooden desks with inkwells which were always full of blotiing paper, pilchards with beetroot and mashed potato, it looked like a car crash, yuk.
I did a year in an american school and that was awful, it was in Boston and I had a teacher who hadn't forgiven the Brits since 1776. The milk there had bottle tops with the american presidents on, I saved all of them and sent them to my aunt and she still has them!!
