Yes you would still have a period an STI would just effect you in other ways.

Am I missing something here? Is STI a Sexually Transmitted something or other? If so I thought it was STD.

Well STI means Sexually Transmitted Infection.
I would say that you would still get your period each month...I don't think STDs/STIs affect that.
