my girlfriends period date has been changing ever since we did it during her period about 3 months ago.
It used to be around the 24th and the last one was on the 16th, so thats a change of 8 days. every month it has been getting eariler.
is this normal or does she have something to worry about?

How old is she?

she is 16 nearly 17
OK. She is still very young and her periods haven't stabelised yet. They often take a few years to become regular. Basically, her hormones are all over the place and its therefore vital that you use condoms even during her period. But don't worry, its normal and she is fine.
I agree with Tiggerblue, but if her periods stay frequent and/or heavy, she might be wise to see her doctor, because sometimes investigations are needed. I would imagine she's just settling down into a pattern though, and it could take a bit of time.
Good idea Icey.
Her periods aren't changing. Get a calendar, and count 28 days from today. It's not the 1st, is it? And count 28 days from then - and so on.
Each month the 'date' of the month will be a couple of days earlier, so that's about right.

Periods are usually every 28 days, with the odd blip. This sounds perfectly normal to me.
I have to agree with Ethel here.... most calendar months are 30 or 31 days long... and you are describing menstrual periods that are 28 days... so over a 3 month space of time... there will be a discrepancy of, oh, about 8 or 9 days ! In other words, DPSA, totally normal !
