peugot 306 changed a fuel filter and filled the thing with fuel before fitting filter top but now engine runs as normal but engine management light is staying on

The engine management light came on on my Focus last week. I took it to bw looked at and was told it could be down to any of about 30 different things! You practically need a laptop to diagnose car faults these days so best get it checked.
