An interview with the agency themselves or with a prospective employer? Have you asked for temporary work or a permanant position?

Last time I used one, I was looking for permanent employment but said that I was prepared to temp whilst looking. I had an interview with the agency 2 days after phoning them and was placed in a temporary role a week after that. Despite being on their books for over 6 months, I didn't get one interview for a permanent role, I found one myself.

I've used one twice now and my experiences have been the same on both occasions.

Hi Cheekychops,

Like yourself i said i was looking for a perm role but would take on temp work as i am kind of wanting a new job asap. i had my interview with them on friday. i rang them yesterday and today as i was supposed to have a call back on monday. i was told the lady dealing with me is off sick. just wanted to know the "turnaround time" for an interview

thanks for ur answer
For the temporary position (which I was in the whole 6 months) I didn't go for an interview, the agency just sent me to start work at 9:00am Monday morning.

Every other week they would phone up and say 'can we send your CV to suchandsuch a Company? They have a permanent job you may be interested in'. I would say yes but no interviews ever came of it!

ah, i see so you dont usually have to go to interviews for temp work. i will call the agency again tomorrow and see what they are doing to help me find a job. After your six months were up were you out of work for long or do the agency find another placement for you?
No, I stayed in the placement until I found another job, I could have stayed there longer but I really needed permanent work - and more money!
