Just come back, if you are even just thinking of going, then do it, it is just such an amazing place, a real one off also go on a gondola, you get a completely different perspective than if you just go on the water buses, Ray

Hello mrs, brill thanks, will speak to you tomorrow, hope you are well, and little man is ok, take care xx
is carnival on now? I've always wanted to see that.
I got stuck on one of the boats there and ended up on the wrong side of the city with no phone, no idea where I was staying and my own inadequate sense of direction. Apparently my friends really started to panic after the fifth boat drifted a long and I still wasn't on it. (I had some problems figuring out what boat stop I should have been at).

I really liked the ghetto bit though.
well I got so lost I got off the train while it was still on the mainland, and wondered why there wasn't water in the streets like everyone said, CD. But last time I was there was a November and the square was flooded, everyone walking across it on duckboards. A bit chilly but very romantic.
O that sounds ace Ray -does it really stink tho?

What was the nighlife like -what was yyour hotel like?

I am not trying to burst yer bubble -just wondered -have been to Italy a few times and I adore it (well Milan was crappy but least i got to see round the San Siro -that was worth it itself -wa haay)
I got lost on the main ladn bit too jno, it's where our hotel was. I only went to the shop. I was then made to take pictures of our hotel, the port type place where you get the boat in to venice and then everytime we got on a boat at our last destination in case I got lost again so I would be able to show them where I needed to go.

I'm still trying to work out if my friends have no faith in me or if they just know me too well!
aww, they just wanted to make sure they saw you again, China! After all, they lose a lot of tourists every year to the sharks in the lagoon.
I went there when I was a toddler (apparently! lol ) and I'm told I was very scared of the pigeons......Which I a now, so guess where that came from! lol

I would love to be taken there on a romantic week end though. Ha! Like that's gonna happen! lol ;O)
How's Venice for singles these days?
jno, if this is another pumpkins on trees thing I am not going to be best pleased with you!

max - I went with a couple of girlfriends and we had a great time. Give it a shot.

Hello jno, carnival started on friday night, should be great, Dris, no sorry it didn't honk at all, maybe it does in the summertime, Jan apparantly is the best month to visit, hotel was brilliant we stayed at The "Al Sole" in santa croce, food was good but expensive and as for san marco and the buildings around it, it is like walking through a history book, China that must have been so funny, we did think about tieing a piece of string to our arms and then following it back, but if everybody did that it would be even worse. cheers all of you.
I am mortified that you doubt my word, China, so here is a photo I took myself to prove it. I don't know if Ray saw anything similar - may be a bit cold for swimming at the moment.

lol, thank goodness no we didn't jno, would have got outta there pretty quick, ace pic that, better than the ones i took.
Well that's ok then. I just wanted to ensure you weren't about to make me have to wikopedia to check that there aren't sharks in Venice but now I see you're entirely right. (I still can't believe you made me question how pumpkins grew!)
