Are you asking whether its illegal to pay you a week early in December or at your normal time in January?

Both are legal.

thanks for your answer
I'm in the same boat - it's nice getting paid early before christmas but I am sooooo skint during January!!
Is the 31st your usual pay date?

If so, why are you surprised? This is standard practice.

If they are paying you later than usual then that is a different matter.
if they hadnt paid you early in december would you be complaining? If they paid you early and you didnt want them to them why couldnt you just leave the money alone and use it from the original pay date in dec.

as Ethel says, if theyve paid you later than they usualyy do then thats another question.
