I would suggest that you drain the whole system including pump, pipes and injectors. Then replace a small amount of diesel in the car with a little injector cleaner.

You can put diesel in a petrol car, but not the other way round and (as has been said) diesel is also a lubricant and putting petrol in your diesel engine will have also removed any lubricating qualities that were in the fuel system meaning it will be under extra wear until lubrication starts up again.

It sounds like you didn't drive it far so it may be OK.
a standard fuel siphon by a local garage is between 150-200. Alot of our drivers make this mistake.
One of the problems of living normally is that we go on autopilot for much of the day due to overfamiliarity with what we are doing - having a petrol motor all your driving life and moving to diesel, or vice versa and its easy to make the mistake - despite the protestations of some of the more self righteous members of society. Yes, it has to be drained down and filter cleaned out and if you take it to a main dealer he will flush out the out the whole system and charge accordingly. I drove my diesel Mondeo about half a mile and a Fords main dealer charged me just under 500 so checkout your estimate first.
