Was it my imagination, or was there a Speed Camera Vehicle parked on a bridge overlooking the M3 last Saturday, around 6pm?

Are they doing this now?

What will they do you for? - Dead 70mph, tolerance of 10%, or are they just surveying thre scene?

It is probably not a speed camera, but an ANPR camera(automatic number plate recognition), linked to a central computer.

If they spot a stolen car or one that interests them, they can radio their mate waiting further down for a bit of fun chasing it.
The ANPR also quickly identifies cars that shouldn't be on the road because the are SORN'd.

No chase needed - a photo is more than enough.
They do this a lot in South Wales (M4). They use a combination of speed and ANPR cameras.

We used to get a lot of tickets through the garage I used to work as the M4 would be used to test vehicles that were ready to go out to customers to ensure there was no noise/vibration at speed.
Regular appearances of these over the M25 around the Denham to Maple Cross section, they have one van, two men and 4 cameras that they position over each lane and they are there for six hours at a time.
Yes and they certainly chase the cars there, Ethel. The Cop cars lie in wait, and pull them onto the hard shoulder, j16 to 18 on the M25.

Sometimes you will pass 3 or 4 cars being 'done'.
