Cowboy Hat

Are any of you good at icing cakes? My daughter has put me in a quandary by asking if I can make a
coyboy hat cake, i'm alright for the main part but has anyone any suggestions for the brim. Its got to be white icing as its for part of a wedding cake.

Can you put some red and blue striped on it, stick some feathers and say it is a Red Indian hat instead??

Alternatively (and I am no icing chef) can you not just use some white card for the brim, or will it look tacky?
