You don't just out their name on it to ensure it goes into their bank account to clear. If you wish someone to HAVE to pay a PO into their bank you must cross the PO other wise it is as good as cash and you just hand it over at a PO counter. Depending on the PO and the amount of the PO, they may or may not have been asked for ID

How did you send the PO? Was it by recorded delivery so it had to be signed for on arrival for example - this would be the only way you could trace where it is and even then you must rely on the PO updating their web site

Did you keep a note of the PO number or, even better, did you keep the counterfoil for your records?

Post 1's link doesn't seem to work BTW
Bit more info for you ...

If you ring 01246 542252 with your receipt in hand (counterfoil) they'll be able to tell you if your postal order has been cashed and if so where and when. If it hasn't they can cancel it and you can get a refund
you have to wait 28 days before they will look into it being lost or not as the case maybe
I sent a P/O the other day, if you look on the reciept you got rom the post office, the number of the PO is on it and yes you can check it,
new postal orders are like cheques and don;lt have a counteroil that u detach anymore, the reciept you get when u pay has the number on it and that is also your counterfoil so to speak
