tartrate

uncate
other answers I have seen for 9a are
xanthate
taetrate

I dont agree with taetrate but what do you think about xanthate?
Just looked at the formulae for Tartic and Xanthic Acids - the latter contains Sulphur - so I'm now with Xanthate

tartrate is definitely wrong as is not sulphur-containing. Xanthate is the answer.

thank you all but where did you get 'uncate' from. Can't find it in Oxford dictionary.
Chambers doesn't give any pointers that may suggest 'xanthate' - but Collins and Bloomsbury can both confirm that 'xanthate' is correct.

'Uncate' is found in Chambers under 'uncus' but only 'uncus' is present in Collins and Bloomsbury.

Who'd be a dictionary complier?!

Or even 'compiler'!
