Help, I'm totally stumped about the name of the final town.

The first six (I think) are East Kilbride, Irvine, Stevenage, Warrington, Runcorn and Cheshunt. There seem to be so many towns WNW of Cheshunt. Who's the industrial reformer? I also can't see the connection between all these towns and a novel.

Thanks.

Have tried to post an answer for ages - the site is very, very slow just now. The answer to town 7 is Newtown (Wales) - and that is the "novel" link with the other 6. They are all "new towns" in England or Scotland. But 6 is Peterborough (I think) being the closest "new town" to Burghley House.

Not Cheshunt but Hatfield?

Last one will be Newtown in Powys (Robert Owen) - hence the clue.

This is soooooo sloooowwww!
Agree now that it is Hatfield (the house checks out on Google as having black and white marble floors) so will go with that instead of Peterborough.

I've been trying to post for ages too.

I can now see where I went wrong with Robert Cecil. I came across Theobalds as his home while Googling rather than Hatfield House. Theobalds seems to be just outside Cheshunt , but there's no mention of any black and white marble floor in the building.

Thanks for Newtown - I'd never have got it..

Thank you all.
