She has not eaten at all in the last 3 days-yet she is still alert and purrs when cuddled. I can honestly say that I do not think she is in any pain, and I don't think she will last too much longer. My daughter and I have discussed it and we both feel that if she is not suffering,it would be best if she went "naturally"...ie-let nature take its course. i really don't want to stress her unnecessarily.....Please,my friends-can you advise me?

PS-I should mention that I said the phrase "rainbow bridge" to her and her little head shot up....very strange as she had not been looking at me until then. Was it my tone of voice?
Pastafreak my love , it is so difficult to advise you either way .I think it's a decision that you alone can make , though I expect the vet would approach the subject if they felt it necessary. You know Cleo better than anyone and I bet Cleo will let you know when she's had enough. If she is not showing any signs of distress then I see no reason why she shouldn't just carry on with what life with you she has left , enjoying the love and perfect care you are giving her.

Thankyou,mamma-that is how I have been thinking.....I just hope I am not being selfish. I think she is still content in her own way-xx
Give her a big hug from me. x
You are not being selfish at all sweetheart , I can see you have Cleos best interest at heart and know her well enough to read her eyes which will tell you that she is content .xxx
Hi, you will know if the time has come to help her on her way....and it doesn't sound like it's time just yet. Is she still drinking? Maybe some soup might tempt her. If not....then just lots of love and cuddles....my thoughts are with you.

pasta,
I am sure little Cleo will know, as you will, when it is her time to pass over to Ranbow Bridge.
Just try to keep her as comfortable as possible, maybe temp her with her favourite food.
Lots of cuddles too which I am sure she is gettting.
Thinking of you at this time.

oh what a terrible time for you, they say owners know when the time is right, and honestly you will. If you dont feel she is in in any pain, I think you should carry on giving her the love and cuddles she wants at the moment. Try tempting her with some pilchards in tomato sauce, that was something the vet always told me they used on cats that wouldnt eat. Or some turkey? god bless xx
My thought are with you and Cleo. As long as you are not making yourself ill worrying about her just leave things until you are sure the time is right.

Thank you so very much,In A Pickle -what a lovely poem! The words are comforting and reassuring-and partcularly nice on this day xx
Oh, dear pastafreak - I do hope little Cleo's still OK. When my old cat, Cleo was near the end, she just wanted to be near me and have lots of hugs. I, like you, felt that it was better she "went" naturally, as I felt she wasn't in any pain either. She stayed at home with us and on the morning she died, she sat under her favourite chair, dosing and then she "chirped" at me (you cat people will know what I mean) and I went and picked her up and she lay in my arms and purred and then just went to sleep. I think she would have wanted it that way. Ten years later and I have another little Cleo - just as mischievous as the old one and with an equally loud purr. I swear she's Cleo come back to me!! Thankyou,kleiber.....my cleo seems to want to be alone now-which I know is typical in cats. They will often find a place of solitude to die...her purr is still there tho very faint. I have had other pets die...but this is hitting me particularly badly xx
