Greek Mythology

Im interested in learning more about basic greek mythology. I have never studied the subject before and was hoping someone could recommend a fairly simple textbook that gives a general overall understanding of the myths themselves and an analysis of the period in time.

Try "An introduction to Greek Mythology", by David Bellingham.

Its easy to read and gives you Roman equivalents.

For pure pleasure, and as an introduction, you might enjoy Tales from Ovid translated by Ted Hughes.
