I've just come back after a while, and found the member's name displayed by each new question without having to open it to see, an opportunity to have favourite threads besides our own, and (fanfare) the apparent demise of the controversial and subject to misunderstanding rating system! If we could also have clickable member profiles and edit our own misprints after posting I think we'll have cracked it!

Unless the rating system has just been removed it's still here. You can also view and edit your questions before submitting them now. Unfortunately this doesn't work when posting answers.

The ratings sytem is still in existence although I don't use it because it is petty, personal, bourgeois, self-indulgent, individualistic, and corrosive of the moral fabric which binds society together as a harmonious wholeAs such it is a distraction, a bit like the colours.
Hi bernardo the yellows and pale blues are a little difficult to read. Got the general gist though.

You're right about the rating, it may not have loaded yesterday, but at least I had the chance to moan about it in the right area. It was really designed just to rate the relative accuracy of answers, but seems to have developed more as a sort of 'talent contest' where people can also rate the style rather than simply how well the question has been answered.

If there was an instruction somewhere 'This system is only to rate the completeness and accuracy of the answer, it's not to be used to give opinions on the style and presentation of the answer or to rate opinions' it would be fine, but I don't think many people have the same criteria when rating a reply, and if you don't do it at all then you look like a basket.

Just for an example, Wraith, I didn't rate yours as it was an opinion, and like Bernardo said, it's not really designed to comment on star quality and only accuracy of facts. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to demonstrate what I meant in practice ;)
No problem David H glad to be of service. Personally I don't mind whether I get a rating or not....I know deep down that somebody still loves me....   (:-.....
