What does it mean to be Catholic, Episcopalian, Protestant, Anglican, Seventh Day Adventist etc. I've never known or understood. Isn't everybody just Christian? And if I am interested in christianity how do I choose which one to go into?

Octavius, it certainly is.
A fairly simple answer to your question Silindile is that all who belong to the groups you mentioned are or claim to be followers of Jesus/Christian. The reasons that these churches have differences is that there are sometimes differences of opinions in them about the teachings of Jesus or they prefer to "do" things differently. If you were interested in Christianity, a good thing would be to think about what you believe yourself and look at what these various groups believe by looking at their various websites. They all have main websites. Just because they may be different it doesn't mean that they don't cooperate. Many of these churches are involved ecumenically.
