can anyone help please, we just bought a samsung ht-x30 dvd home cinema system - can you listen to sky movies on tv through system or just dvds, if so how do we do it - thanks

Well you could read the documentation (both home cinema and Sky box documentation).

The Sky box does have some "audio out" conectors so I guess you could run a cable from them to some "audio in" on the Cinema system.
yes, use the white and red ( not the yellow ) plugs. plug them in sky box and dvd home cinema box. thats what we do.
Once you have connected the audio leads from the Skybox to your DVD surround sound you will have a button on your dvd to switch to video 1 for your sky sound.
bear in mind that a normal sky box is stereo only, whereas the sky plus and sky hd boxes are dolby digital and need an optical coax to get full benefits.
