Does any one know the full version of the saying I think it is something like " When the east wind dust blow we shall have snow"

It goes somethimg like this.....
The north wind doth blow,
and we shall have snow,
and what will the robin do then?
poor thing.
He'll sit in the barn,
and keep himself warm,
and hide his head under his wing,
poor thing.


notafish, Thats the one my mother used to tell me at that majical time of watching the snow flakes fall all around, when I was about 6 but I think in her version at least, the robin would 'hide in the barn'
She's 86 next month and I'll ask her again when I visit her today.
I agree with notafish I remember my gran saying this in Scarborough in the late 1930`s

You're probably right, I think he did 'hide' in the barn. I couldn't remember it exactly.
