Hi, in addition to the above answers, I think Californian Poppy perfume was still available in the 50s, and l'Aimant was still a big seller too. There was a toothpaste which claimed to make your teeth look whiter by making your gums look pink...it was bright red and tasted gorgeous. I don't think you can buy it any more. I can't remember its name but I would love to know. (Was it Carmine, or was that a face cream?)
Max Factor did a cute range of perfumes sitting in a box with a cat, I think they are collectable now.
Fairy household soap!!
Was the toothpaste Gordon Moores? A girl at school used to use it and she had ginger hair and bright red gums, with white teeth that glowed.
Yes the toothpaste was Gordon Moores and I remember the Max Factor cats too, the perfumes were Primitif, Hypnotique and Electrique and they were in little cardboard black cat holders. My first job when I left school in 1965 was in Boots and I loved all that stuff!
My mother used a 'scent' called JUNE.
