Zopiclone is only supposed to be a medium term solution but I know a lot of doctors hand them out on repeat and really don't bother any further. Your GP ought to sort this out with you, whether you have a sleep disorder or other issues interfering with your rest.
Perhaps you should reconsider your stressful job?

Are you an insomniac? If you are, then you could try some herbal remedies, they might help.... other than that, just relax and do some puzzles before bedtime, that should tire you out enough to go to sleep on time.
I agree with ann_h, it is a failure on your GP's part that you have been prescribed these for so long so make sure they help you come off them.
make sure you are tired before you go to bed try exercise then no food at least two hours before bed. also make sure your room is pitch black and dont look at the time when you wake up!!!
Pack your job in simple.

No job is worth more than your health
Don't do puzzles before bedtime!! This will make your mind more alert - not the right mode for falling asleep.
Try some Herbal Nightol and play some relaxing music very quietly - I used to fall asleep in my yoga classes when these cds were being played. And if anyone here can recommend one such cd I'd be grateful.
Good luck Woodfellow - which strength are you on? Maybe if you're on the 7mg you could try asking the doc to lower them to the 3.75mg, and then hopefully off them eventually.
A good shot of Benylin Original cough medicine normaly knocks me out!!
