Hiya folks.. Well although I went to a private business college in my youth and went on to be a book keeper things didn't quite work out the way it should. So I always had to have any jobs that came along just to pay the bills. Well in the past 11 years I have been in and out of retail, ie local shop, Trafford Centre and then I looked after my aged mother who then died. Anyway as I am in my late fifties it is very hard to get back into the work scene. Well I have an interview on Monday at the local bakery for a part time position just serving in the shop. Can any of you lot give me any advice as I have lost a lot of my confidence and although I am not applying to be Head of ICI it is very daunting for me.

Well done you pussnboots , it must be hard to get back into the work force in a new type of job . All I can say is that you will find the strength for your interview on monday , just walk in there as yourself and try to think positively , don't be nervous , if you can hide it at least . I wish you all the best :-)

retail is crying out for people like you, reliable, flexible and understanding the value of customer service, it is the life skills they are after, you have those in abundance.
ooo silly me youve not even got the job yet ! erm... not got my glasses on -lol ,

just say how you enjoy meeting people and make eye contact at all times with the interviewer, Good luck with the interview xxx
Hi pussnboots,
Are you sure your CV does you justice?

If I was in the position I would take you on like a shot.....
Maybe you should get a couple of friends to write it for you, your qualities outweigh your academic achievements, and you are forgetting your life-time true to life experiences.

Any prospective employer would be lucky to find you honey.

Have faith in yourself, we have....
