Why is my 1 year old cat so obsessed with padding? He drives us crazy it takes him ages to settle down and he has a funny peculiar look on his face when he is doing it! I think his mum left him when he was too young as when we bought him he was in a cage on his own but I thought he would have grown out of it now
My (approximately 5 year old) cat does it all the time too - usually on my arm (alternative acupunture I suppose!) sometimes he seems to send himself into a bit of a trance too and starts to dribble which apparently is a sign he was taken from his mother too early. (He's a rescue cat so I'm not sure of his history.) Yours will probably always do it - its totally natural and is actual a sign that the cat is happy and content in its surroundings. http://www.moggies.co.uk/behaviour.html

Yep my old cat, who also passed on at aged 14 never grew out of this habit. Think yourself lucky, mine used to drool as she did it, you'd end up bloody soaked by the time she'd finally settled!
Ive got 2 maine *****, one male, one female, both old codgers but they've both always done it and with claws extended. Most of my other cats do it also but are kind enough to do it with their claws in which is quite relaxing. One of them does it on my head last thing at night which feels like a head massage!
I have a friend who has a Burmese, he looks like he could do with a good meal - too long and slinky for me. I like a cat that can be cuddled without breaking its bones.
tigwig - if that is your cats only bad habit things are looking good. Just wait until he discovers that he is actually a furry alarm clock.
