Does anyone know if a Firewire port would be compatible with a USB 2 cable? I know firewire is faster, but not sure if it is compatible. If so, would I get the full benefit of the high-speed USB 2 connection (as opposed to a slower USB 1 connection)?

Firewire and USB use totally different shaped connectors, so the cables are not interchangeable.
I was under the impression USB2 was faster than Firewire
USB2 is theoretically faster than Firewire but not continuously so. Firewire sustains a consistently higher throughput.
