I wonder if anyone will know if there is any financial benifit available from the goverment for childcare for children of schooling age. We have two children going to a primary school for full time education. My wife is thinking of finding a full time job which makes it difficult for the children to be looked after unless we pay a childminder to look after them after school and we might have to drop them at the childminder to take them to school in the morning aswell. What she will earn in a week will mainly go towards paying for the childcare. Is there any asistance available and are there any conditions?

hi tax credits should be able to help. they will pay a certain percentage of the cost of childcare, even for after school clubs. they will only pay towards a childminder if she has a registration number as they ask for this on the form. if you go on to www.dwp.gov.uk and click on the a to z icon. look up tax credits and you can do an online quote as to what you may be entitled to.
