Can acupuncture help improve hearing?

My mother lost 70% of her hearing following an accident with loud explosion which caused ruptured inner ear. Some doctors tried vitamine injections and hearing aids but that did not help much. One of her doctors is suggesting to try acupunture at least 10 sessions. - Are there any evidence or any known cases where acupunture helped improve hearing?

Your mother has what is known as a "nerve deafness" that is the nerve to the ear, the acoustic nerve is irreparably damaged. Acupuncture will not help. Vitamin injections play only a limited role. Hearing aids can only play a part if the nerve deafness is only partial. Her good ear is at a "premium" so should be carefully protected.
