Hi all! I have been told by a friend that as I am currently receiving income support, I can claim free eye tests and discount on glasses.
Does anyone know if this is true and if so what discount it is?
Many thanks. daffi x x x

Hi Daffy!
Do they give you the voucher at the opticians?
In the UK, free eye tests are available on the NHS to people who fall into certain categories.

To find out whether youre entitled to a free eye test, pick up a leaflet from your local health centre or optician, or log on to www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk.

Hi daffi, I think you will be eligible for a free eye test, and I am sure the voucher is around 40? You usually need to take in proof of receiving your benefit, but phone up your optician and see what they require. x
Yes that is right , I get a free eye test and at the opticians you just fill in a form with your details and NI number and they do a free eye test and then , if you need glasses , you can either get a free pair from their first budget range , up to 35 when I last went , or , you can do as I did and choose a pair from any and pay the difference. I needed reading glasses but if you need both then I guess you have to pay for one , or have bifocals. :-)
