Why cant or wont half the driving public use their indicators? I just dont get it. They are there for a reason and yet people appear to be using them less and less.

i recently passed my driving test (first time).

And the answer is that in the majority of cases in city driving there is simply no need. At most junctions there will be an arrow on the road pointing one way only, as that is the only direction which the cars may go in that lane, why signal as you turn from it.

You can also anticipate what the car in front will do in this lane, seeing as you are already in it, to drive in the same direction.

On roundabouts, unless going far to the right, you only need indicate as you turn off.

In general, BMW's and some rovers dont indicate at all.

Oh i do Hedgehog. Im actually a very alert and aware driver. Not all bus drivers pull over, pick up/drop off the public and off they go again though. Neither are all bus drivers are in a rush all the time. Once in a while you see a bus pulled over in the distance and no movement to and from bus but when you get closer he pulls out in front of you, sometimes without warning. Thats what im getting at.
I followed a guy in a Citroen over 3 roundabouts and 4 junctions, and he didn't indicate once. We pulled into the car park of a supermarket at the same time, and when he got out I said " Nice car, hope it didn't cost too much" and after he pulled puzzled face, I said " Well, they seem to have forgotton to connect the indicators..."
Not a happy conversation ensued, but ended with me explaining that correct and effective use of indicators is more likely to save the life of a pedestrian, cyclist, motorcyclist or other car driver. He looked less than impressed as he skulked off....ho hum.
my right indicator is broken.
