Glasgow tennement turning off water supply?

Hi

I live in a traditional glasgow tennement and I'm having some polish builders do some work for me, they will need to turn off my water supply for a short time but dont know how to do this.

I know that this is done outside my flat but I'm not sure how, does anyone have any ideas?

Outside on the pavement or the road, there will be a stop valve.
It is about 6 inches square, usually made of cast iron, modern ones are a plastic type material.
The cover lifts up and underneath, about 2 feet down will be the valve.
A key, shaped like a large T, is then used, fitting over the valve and turning it clockwise.
The problem with this, is that you will probably be turning the water off, affecting the whole of the tenement building.
Are you sure you don't have a stop valve in your kitchen or bathroom, or anywhere else in your flat.
Can you ask a neighbour to have a look?

Thanks very much, I can't find any stopcock in my flat, I will check with one of my neighbours and see if they can shed any light on the situation.
