Legendary animal! Need help for essay!

Does anyone know about those legendary animals who can use magic? They live in a tribe on an island nobody ever heard of before! I THINK!! I just heard about it before and I need a legendary animal to use on my essay for school next week! They have dark red/orange skin! There supposed to have markings on them I THINK!! Please reply!! They don't look weird as in any of those legends about half cow and half human!

To be honest I haven't got a clue!!! Might be easier to find another legendary or fantasy animal to right about. Good luck with the essay anyway!!
