Thank you both very much. Think will settle for belt.
hi Gill - I must be missing something - how does back link with belt?
Question Author
Hi, JMR27. I don't know! Neither do I know what sea turn is! A friend of mine went on holiday and left me this quiz to finish for her. I am anxious to get back to my Rainbow quiz so am just clutching at straws with this one. As both of you have one I cannot relate to do not really know now which to settle for. Thanks again.
Why are people using back belts?

A back belt is a device used, in theory, to reduce the forces on the spine, increase intra-abdominal pressure, stiffen the spine and reduce loads during lifting. It is also advertised that by wearing a back belt, the worker will be reminded to avoid awkward postures and heavy loads, reduce bending motions and in the end, reduce injuries in certain workplaces.

Hi Gill and sgeandhu and thanks for your answers. Maybe the setter meant to say "black" instead of "back".

A sea turn is a gale coming from the sea but I think my suggestions are a bit too obscure to be correct and I would tend to go with sgeandhu's answer.

I hope your Rainbow Quiz is more straightforward! :o)

Hi, JMR27. Think will go with belt. The Rainbow quiz is very hard. All cryptic clues - comes out twice a year. If you regularly use AB you will see several questions asked about it nearer the closing date in November. Quite a lot of us do it. Hard but more interesting than the one I'm doing now for my friend. Thanks again.
