I want to go on holiday for 2 weeks either in October 07 or April/May 08. Where is the best place to go where? My requirements are:

Plenty of nice hot weather
Not interested in the club scene
Touristy places to see/soak up the culture
A resort that doesn't have too many kids - I want to go somewhere that is relaxing and has more of an adult theme rather than kids

My budget is 400 per person for flights and accommodation and looking for self catering.

Sooz07 Hey, why not Northern Arizona...Like Sedona, or Flagstaff, or the four corners region...simply amazing, I promise! I grew up there and I can boast, you see..heheh... There's something very special about the high desert area. that would be a very good time to visit. Also April/May when the desert is in bloom is a nice time. Stay away from Phoenix area. Sadly, it's become a gangland type area..Anyway, all the best. Hope your holiday goes well :)

Looking at your budget... it may be difficult to find somewhere really unusual... the med may be a good option.

what about Crete or Greece, some areas, especially in the north are untouched and are still hot in October.

Athens will be warm, lots of culture and child free??

Hope you have a good time!!!

Oluz Deniz in Turkey....the best kept secret.
check trip advisor and the hotel Karbel
How about Aqaba in Jordan? Weather will be good and there's lots do do and see.
Canaries.
Why not try a Thompson Gold holiday? - no kids at the hotel.
We use Coronas Playa Lanzarote a lot. Hotel is easy walking to town if required but no clubs or child entertainment locally.
Food and accom excellent. Check out latedeals.com for a bargain. Oct 06 we had two weeks HB for 399 each.
Good Luck
How about the Maltese Islands - more specifically Gozo for most of the time and maybe a couple of days in Valletta too.
My cousin has a great place in Portugal. Quiet, ideal for walking. If you want peace and quiet check it out on www.casalavanda.net

Hope you get what you want.
ps we have also stayed at the Coronas Playa in Lanzarote. It was superb.

Good luck.
Malcesine Lake Garda, touristy but quaint, not really any kids, fantastic scenery, lovely weather. great location for resorts up and down the lake, lovely quiet bars around the harbour and lake. Try www.gardaworld.com, we stayed at Appartments Andreis about 800km from centre of town lovely views great appartments.
