Not sure if right section but a friend has asked me something I cannot answer. He had a very bad case of eczema
which resulted to skin on feet and hands getting very raw and sore. This been treated with creams and special creams for bathing. He is going for further tests which are patches and apparently this will tell what he is allergic to. But the question was quite amazing he came up with. You know you get tablets to put in your washing machine to keep it clean and clear the lime well he wondered if he boiled one of these tablets in his kettle to clear the lime would it work just in case this was what he is allergic too as the doctors have told him he is allergic to something. Thanks for any replies.

It would be so much safer to buy a new kettle!! cheap as chips these days.
Kettle Descaler from a supermarket to clean his kettle, then buy a cheap water filter jug and use the water from this.
Question Author
yes agree the new kettle would be a good solution but it is not going to prove if it is the lime in the water that is causing the problems.will suggest the filter jug. thanks.

Have just found by looking at various sites that the increased concentration of nicel may exacerbate ECZEMA in people who are alleric to nickel. So it is possible that my friend has come up with something to what is the cause of his problem so the water filtering will be a good start.
This will work:

It MUST be available in the UK too?
Some outbreaks of eczema are caused or exacerbated by allergens. Nickel is a particularly potent and common allergen. Steroid creams such as betnovate and dermovate are very effective at treating eczema but preventative medicine is always preferable: persevere and find the allergen.

Thanks for replies and he has been on the creams you mention teddio but it keeps recurring after a few weeks .He has now bought the kettle with the cartdriges for filtering the water and hope that this might be the source of his problem.
My sister had the most terrible excema, then got really poorly and couldn't eat for a couple of months, and her excema cleared completely, just leaving smooth red patches. I think it proves it must have been something she was eating, so the long process of cutting out certain foods in turn, and keeping a note, may point to what it is. Hope this helps.
Good treatment for Eczema - wee in the bath. It works. Seriously. And I have that on a doctor's advice.
