Was Diana the Best Mother in the World?

Prince Harry stated today that his mother was the best mother in the world, note he did not say "probably" or "in his opinion", the best mother in the world.

Do fellow ABers agree with me when I say this is an insult to all those single parent mothers, who have loved and brought up their children with a lot less support and finances than Diana received.

No Nannies/servants to help them out, they could not take exotic Mediterranean cruises on boy friend's luxury yachts, or roam the world. No these "best mothers in the world" unselfisly sacrificed their own life styles so as to give their children the best that they could afford, without the need to seek an easy life or romance for themselves.

They say a man marries a clone of his Mother. I think Camilla bears a certain resemblence.

I don't think its anything to do with Camilla being easy on the eye. She is just an all round horrid individual with no interest in any one else but herself.
To Harry she was the best mother in world, and no matter what any one says no one will take her place.

Harry said "But behind the media glare, to us, just two loving children, she was quite simply the best mother in the world.We would say that wouldn't we. But we miss her." He wasnt saying out of all the mums ther world over his was the best, he was saying for him and William she was the best.

All kids the world over that think their mums are the best.

You cant measure how worthy someone is of their childs love because a person is/isn't rich, does/doesnt have help, does/doesnt work, is/isnt married.

Get off the internet and spend some time with your kids.

I think Harry spoke from the heart about his mother. Camilla was the manipulative one and jumped at the chance of filling Diana's shoes. Diana had affairs because she was lonely. Charles was too wrapped up with Camilla to be there for Di. Let her rest in peace!

yes, he did clarify his statment with ''well we would say that wouldn't we'' - which i notice AOG conveniently left out so as to give his attack more weight.

perhaps he said that for the very reason AOG suggests - because he knows that everyone feels the same way about their mum...

For Heaven's sake, you lot - calm down!
1) Charles should never have married Diana when he was always in love with Camilla. He was forced into it. (Remember Princess Margaret & Capt. Townsend? Or maybe some of you are too young.)
2) Diana was a good mother to her sons and every child who loves their mum would say that she is the best mum ever.
3) Stop knocking Camilla. She & Charles are in love and have been for years. She's the best thing that's happened to him.
4) Looks aren't everything.
5) The boys obviously loved their mum and should be allowed to express their feelings when they like.
6) Camilla didn't choose to go to the mem
orial service. She was invited, but declined. If I'd been in her position, I would have, too - nothing to do with the public's feelings, but Diana was the ex-wife of Camilla's husband and she felt it wouldn't have been right.
7) William & Harry get on fine with Camilla.
8) Not knocking Diana for her parenting skills, only her marital skills.

You're right Kleiber..there are facts upon facts that we are all aware of and have heard so many times. The main thing from yesterday,is that Harry,got the chance publically,to put forward his and William's love for their mother,like any son would do,and to ask for closure.

Thanks, Lindapinda - any child who was loved would feel the same way. I really feel for those boys, but they have to move on (as my son has done since his dad died) and I think they want to. There's no point in knocking their father and his wife for something that happened years ago and was really out of their hands - totally manipulated by the Family.

I have always felt that if Diana was such a wonderful mother why was she gallivanting around Paris late at night when she should have been at home with her children.

However I should add that to the boys, quite rightly, she was the best mother in the world, as mine is, and yours too. There are far more ineffective, less deserving mothers who are equally as revered by their children.

To my knowledge of all the affairs Diana had not one broke up another marriage. Camilla and Charles almost in the full glare of publicity certainly did. Diana realised this and was not prepared to act as a patsy so tried to even up the equation.

what i did find perplexing was the statement that she always said goodnight to them as she put them to bed (or some such thing). Wasnt she partying most of the time if not entertaining her numerous male friends or attending dinner galas.

her flamboyant and expensive lifestyle never sat well with her professed humanitarian ideals. Imagine holding the hand of a dying starved baby in mali one night and feasting on caviar the next day thinking about the male hunk you would proposition soon.
